Welcome to The Vegan Boxer. In basic terms, it’s exactly what it says on the tin.

Over the coming months, I’ll be documenting my training and nutrition in the process of getting fighting fit. What for? A few reasons:

1. To demonstrate that it is possible to get fight ready without eating meat;
2. To prove that you can be vegan and not a hippy;
3. To keep me motivated with a visible track record;
4. Hopefully to inspire readers to try boxing or even become vegan.

I’ll be giving the details of my workouts alongside progress on weight and body fat, as well as an idea of the things I’m eating.

So to get started, as of Monday 23 June 2015, I weighed in at 156.1 pounds at 14% body fat (equal to roughly 22 pounds). My initial target is to drop to 154 pounds (Light Middleweight) and 12%…

I love Pret, their filter coffee is 99p, organic and delicious. And sometimes they give it you for free, which is always good. Their fresh fruit is, without fail, perfectly ripe for me – I like my bananas a little on the green side – and of course they donate the food left over at the end of the day to the homeless. It’s been a while. Five months to be precise.

I have been running the whole time. Well, not the whole time, but you get what I mean. I suppose I should say I have been running consistently whilst I have been away from the blog and definitely getting stronger and faster, although there have been a few blips in-between but I’ll get to all that in due course.
